London's Royal Palaces are still some of the most visited places in England. A great deal of their official histories are well known. But London's Strangest Tales: Historic Royal Palaces reveals the bizarre, funny and surreal events and episodes that have occurred over the centuries on the grounds of these beautiful buildings. It gives an alternative history: from the wandering inebriated zebras at the Tower of London, the cricket ball that probably killed a king, and the mystery of Kew's disappearing mosque. This is a wonderful collection for anyone with an interest in the history and heritage of our palaces and in London life generally.

"Like Bogie and Bacall "
Want to take a trip back to the 1940s, when Tinseltown was glamorous, decadent, sexy, and violent? Then don't miss The Studio Kill, Charles Fleming's great new noir novel about John McClellan, head of security for Continental Pictures. An ex-cop for the LAPD, he spends his days and nights hushing up the sexual peccadilloes of actors and studio honchos, not to mention their rampant use of drugs and booze. Now our hero has his hands full with a Red-baiting Congressman who wants to bring the studio down, the murder of a famous director's wife, a columnist who will do anything for his next big story, and a sexy girl screenwriter who might be the love of his life—or the death of him.
My thoughts : Gripping and very atmospheric .

"The Lawhill Story"
During the long gone ages of maritime history many ships of sail and steam have captured the imagination; one of them was a sailing vessel named Lawhill, a four masted barque which after being built at Dundee in 1892 lasted right up until 1957.
Splendid color illustrations by a distinguished painter and teacher highlight this volume of practical instruction in the foundations of art. Perfect for intermediate-level and advanced artists wishing to take their work to the next level, this manual combines detailed anatomy studies with guidance in the principles and practice of perspective and the art of composition.
Author Stan Smith interprets the traditions of European art from the Renaissance onward, providing step-by-step diagrams that develop students' understanding and familiarity with concepts and techniques. Technical and expressive qualities receive equal emphasis. In addition to its value as a source of instruction, this book also functions as an essential reference.

King Arthur and his knights. {15.05.2015}
Readers of all ages will thrill to these timeless tales of chivalry and romance at the court of Camelot. Based on Thomas Malory's classicLe Morte d'Arthur and influenced by the poetry of Tennyson's Idylls of the King, Sir James Knowles's renditions of the ancient legends offer an enchanting account of how a boy who drew a sword from a stone came to rule over a kingdom defended by a brotherhood of knights.
Louis Rhead's evocative black-and-white illustrations, inspired by Celtic art of the sixth century, add depth and resonance to these retellings of the Arthurian myths. The stories range from Merlin's earliest prophecies and the young king's encounter with the Lady of the Lake to the adventures of Sir Lancelot, the quest for the Holy Grail, and Arthur's final battle and voyage to Avalon.

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

My musing :
I have noticed some odd things reecntly , Ebooks with the pages Left to Right ?
Open a paperback or hardback which way do the pages go?
I know on Kindle and iPad that can go any old way but not a good idea to confuse the readers.
Another thing i've encountered is non responsive ebooks . That it so not good.
Particularly with Netgalley , it means i can't review the book .
Just my thoughts .
